Modern Barn Conversion

Modern Handleless Nobilia Kitchen In Slate Grey Matt.

A thoroughly enjoyable project saw us transform this previously unused barn into the hub of the home.

Building works involved

The project required us to bring in all the services required to run the kitchen. This means drainage, water feeds and electrical feeds were brought carefully into the barn without interfering with any of the features.

We supplied and installed the 2 sets of aluminium Bifold doors and a single door which are perfect to swing open on a summers day to step right out into the garden.

We removed some of the original solid Oak flooring to define the kitchen area with RAK Atlantis Marble Tiles. The intricate graining can be seen on the photo’s which we hand selected to flow seamlessly into the island. We also re-sanded and oiled the remaining Oak floor to bring this a new lease of life.

as always, this project was managed and worked on by us from start to finish, along with our great team of tradesmen.

Finishing touches

The kitchen fascia chosen here is from the Nobilia range – our top of the range German Kitchen Supplier. This kitchen makes a statement with the striking tone of Slate Grey, along with the cool marble flooring and worktops. These are complimented by the warmth of the natural Oak throughout.

The tall bank contains quality integrated Neff and Liebherr  appliances and ample storage solutions. The island contains a 4 in 1 hot tap and waste disposer, the wide set Neff induction hob is vented via a Neff black glass downdraught extractor.

The worktop finish is made from 2cm thick Dekton Aura which has mitred floor returns either side, the grain of the worktop runs seamlessly down the sides of the island to create a real authentic look.

The breakfast bar area runs the length of the lsland, again returning at either end creating a great informal off island seating and a place for guests to gravitate to. This is Oak effect and provides a warming addition to the cool contemporary look of the island.

LED lighting features throughout, with integrated strip lighting built into the canopy that houses the units. These are coupled with the integrated LED lighting built into the wall units. The large search lights hanging from the oak beams above make a real statement and provide ample lighting.

The staircase, previously a traditional spindle design, was completely modernised. We removed the spindles and replaced this with made to measure glass panels. We colour matched the paint to the slate grey of the kitchen to continue this modern theme throughout.

We built in a bar mini bar area, housing a wine cooler, Neff integrated coffee machine and open shelving storage. A perfect entertaining space. With this, we created and built in an under-stairs cupboard to hide clutter and make use of this otherwise dead space.

We carefully removed and re-installed the log burner to suit the new layout, this, coupled with the underfloor heating, work really well to keep the barn warm considering it’s high ceilings.
